Woman sent to hospital after crashing into animal shelter sign

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A woman who was rushed to the hospital after driving her car into a tree and the sign of the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Shelter Wednesday night, has died.

That's according to our media partner Masslive and The Republican.

Police think the 72 year-old woman might have had a stroke and lost control of her car sending it into the sign and tree on Cottage Street.

Authorities aren't sure if the woman died from the crash or if she died from a medical issue.

Officials won't know the cause of death until the medical examiner completes their investigation.
