Rodney King, who became famous when his beating by police was caught on tape, was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool this morning, according to CNN and TMZ.
They are reporting that he was found by his fiancée, and that there is no indication of foul play.
King, then 25, became famous in 1991 when he was pulled over by police for drunk driving, and police officers hit him with police batons for an extended period. Unbeknownst to them, it was caught on tape by a neighbor.
When the tape was released, the case became a sensation, and when three offers put on trial were acquitted by a suburban jury after a change of venue, the verdict led to riots in Los Angeles. King was interviewed during the riots, pleading to Los Angeles, "Can't we all just get along?"
