Sheriff Car Stolen

Sheriff's car stolen during crime investigation

A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy has his car back -- after it was stolen while he was investigating a shooting. The car was taken last night, as the deputy investigated a shooting in South El Monte. One suspect was arrested. Once the situation was under control, the deputy noticed his car was missing. The car was spotted this morning by a Montebello police officer. The driver led the California Highway Patrol on a chase to Riverside and through Orange County at speeds of up to 110 miles per hour. The suspect finally ditched the car in Riverside and fled on foot.

The suspect is still at large. Police believe the car thief may have also posed as a deputy to rob someone in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
