SUNMAN, IN (FOX19) - Nine people were injured in a head-on collision Tuesday night in Ripley County.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 14000 block of North Rosfeld Road, just south of Sunman.
Police say Chevy van with eight passengers traveled left of center and struck a Mercury Mystic driven by a female juvenile.
One male and two female passengers from the van were airlifted from the scene, and the driver of the passenger car was also airlifted and taken to University Hospital. Three other female passengers from the van were taken by ambulance to Margaret Mary Hospital. The remaining passengers, one male and one female, were treated and released at the scene.
At the time of the crash, it appeared that both speed and driver error were contributing factors in the crash. Evidence left from both vehicles suggests none of the occupants of either vehicle appeared to be wearing seat belts.
Police have not released the names of anyone involved in the crash.
