MADEIRA, OH (FOX19) -
Madeira Police are looking for a suspect who broke into a woman's home, stole her car keys and her car, then led police on a chase.
It happened Wednesday morning around 2:30 a.m. in the 7800 block of Locust Avenue.
Police say the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked back door, then stole the female resident's purse and the keys to her Honda Accord. The victim called police to report that she saw her vehicle being driven out of her driveway.
A Madeira Police officer observed the stolen vehicle as he was en route to the residence. He initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued.
The chase ended in the parking lot of the Kennedy Crossing Apartments on Woodfood Road when the suspect ran from the moving vehicle into a wooded area. The vehicle crashed into a treeline and received minor damage.
The victim's vehicle along with her purse and its contents were all returned.
The suspect is described as black male, 5'6" to 5'8" and 150 pounds, wearing a black shirt and shorts and carrying a backpack.
