Gaylord to continue investigating blast at Opryland Hotel

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Gaylord is still looking into the cause of Tuesday's night explosion at the resort and hotel, but no city or government agencies will pursue the matter.

The Metro Police Department, the Nashville Fire Marshal, Metro codes and state safety authorities all said they won't look further into the blast that did an estimated $750,000 in damage.

The agencies said they won't investigate because the accident was on private property, and no one was seriously hurt.

Gaylord said a leaking gas line caused the explosion inside the resort and convention center. Only one person suffered minor injuries during the evacuation after the blast.

Gaylord said a private engineering team, IC Thomasson and Sons, will be on site looking into the cause of the blast.

A final report is expected to be released in about a week.
