CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati police have identified and arrested a suspect in a teen girl's shooting death, with the help of witnesses in the community.
Africa Hope, who was just 15-years-old, was shot and killed in OTR overnight Monday.
Police said in a previous release that Hope died after being hit by a stray bullet. They don't believe she was the intended target.
At the press conference on Friday, police listed Harold Croft as their suspect. Just 15 minutes after the press conference, police called to say Croft was located and arrested.
Croft is 36 and recently served 10 years on a manslaughter conviction. He had been out for two months.
The Cincinnati Police Department and Africa's family thanked the community for doing their part to help with the investigation.
Gwendolyn Gill, Africa's godmother, conveyed, "Cincinnati is working. We appreciate everything they have done."
Detective David Gregory with Cincinnati PD revealed, "People came forward and provided information. People came forward as witnesses. It's pretty simple, when people come forward, step forward as witnesses, crimes get solved."
Croft appeared in court on Saturday and his bond was set at $500,000. He has been charged with murder.
