Ex-Lakota teacher gets 15 years on child porn charges

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A former Lakota elementary teacher was sentenced on child pornography charges Tuesday.

Ryan Fahrenkamp, 43, of Mason, was suspended from his teaching position at Endeavor Elementary in May 2010 when a parent complained that he'd been texting her 6th grader.

According to the Department of Justice, the school searched Fahrenkamp's school computer and found that it had been used to look at child porn sites.

The DOJ says school officials also found photos of underage former students without their shirts on.

In August, Fahrenkamp, who had been a teacher for 14 years, resigned. He was officially charged in January of 2011.

He agreed to plead guilty in August 2011; he was scheduled to be sentenced in December of 2011.

His sentencing was delayed for months while he underwent a psychiatric evaluation.

On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession and transporting child pornography.

Fahrenkamp was sentenced to 15 years for transportation of child pornography and ten years for possession of child pornography. Judge Weber ordered the sentences to run concurrently.

After his release from prison, Fahrenkamp will be required to register as a sex offender anywhere that he lives, works or goes to school.

While under court supervision, Fahrenkamp is prohibited from access to a computer and from having contact with minors, either physically or online.
