Cities sign agreement to make traveling easier during World Choir Games

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - An agreement has been signed between Cincinnati, Covington and Newport to make traveling by taxicab easier for visitors during the World Choir Games.

The special event agreement will allow taxicabs licensed in Cincinnati to pick up passengers in Newport and Covington, and the same goes for taxicabs in Newport and Covington may pick up passengers in Cincinnati.

"Cincinnati's collaboration with Covington and Newport will encourage improved access to taxi transportation during the largest international event in our area's history. This agreement will increase visitors' access to all our area has to offer, and displays a great spirit of cooperation between our Cities," said Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney, Jr.

Taxi drivers who wish to participate and operate across the river from their licensed city must attend a free Hospitality Session hosted by the City of Cincinnati. The session will give recommendations on how to interact with visitors from around the globe. More than 200 drivers have already registered for the sessions.

The agreement is effective July 1 to July 15.
