CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Among the likes of the Robert D. Lindner OMNIMAX, the Museum of Natural History & Science and the Duke Energy Children's Museum, another organization is set to join the Cincinnati Museum Center family.
The Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) Board of Trustees approved a resolution to add the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center (NURFC) to that list on Thursday.
The announcement to combine these structures was first made in February, hoping the consolidation of the organizations would cut costs.
After the board's approval on Thursday, the CMC and the NURFC will keep their individual brands and missions. However, the institutions hope the new positioning will contribute more to the community.
The Cincinnati Museum Center says that within approximately 60 days, technology, human resources, operating systems and processes for the NURFC will be integrated.
The CMC Board of Trustees will also have financial say over the combined organizations.
The Board for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will still be responsible for fundraising, programming and the image of the Freedom Center.
