A Hamilton County grand jury has indicted a man for the murder of a 15-year-old girl in Over-the-Rhine.
Harold Croft, 36, was indicted on one count of aggravated murder with specifications, one count of murder with specifications, one count of felonious assault and two counts of having weapons under disability. If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Croft is charged with shooting Africa Hope, 15, on June 18, 2012 in Over-the-Rhine. Croft was aiming for Maurice McEntire, the victim in the Felonious Assault, when he shot and killed Africa. The indictment contains specifications for the use of the firearm as well as specifications relating to his prior convictions for Voluntary Manslaughter, Trafficking in Cocaine and Drug Abuse.
"Another innocent young person lost to avoidable gun violence - it is a tragedy," said Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. "I am committed to vigorously prosecuting gun cases to remove this type of offender from society and keeping our community a safe place to live."
