Happy 4th of July!

Things are looking good for your holiday cookouts and firework shows! Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer is saying that this afternoon will be mostly dry, but a few folks could see a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. As far as temperature goes, we're sticking with the heat wave trend and can expect highs to hit the mid 90s.

While Katy Morgan is off enjoying the holiday, you can tune-in starting at 4 AM to hear what Frank Marzullo has to say about your current weather conditions and a complete seven-day forecast! (Hint: relief is on the horizon!)

It's sad to say that we lost an American icon yesterday - Andy Griffith died Tuesday morning in his North Carolina home at the age of 86. Griffith is most famous for his portrayal of Mayberry town sheriff — aka "America's favorite sheriff" — Andy Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show and as the titular defense lawyer on the legal drama Matlock.

The suspect in a 'suspicious death' in Erlanger is on the loose this morning. Timothy Grissett is wanted in the beating death of 26-year-old Tasha Nichole Campbell. If you have any information on Grissett's whereabouts, please call the Erlanger PD at 859-727-2424.

Not to be a put a damper on your holiday spirits but did you know the 4th of July is the deadliest day for teen drivers? Holiday traffic-related deaths claimed 99 lives in Ohio in July 2010 alone, teens accounting for nearly 10 percent of the fatalities that occurred on July 4th. Stephanie Woods will be in-house this morning with more information on these statistics as well as ways to keep you and your teen drivers safe on the roadways.

A number of burn bans are in effect across the tri-state due to the dry conditions but Boone and Kenton Counties have been listed as exceptions. Rob Williams and Sheila Gray will have more on the ban and how it's effecting firework vendors at 6 AM.

We all know the traditional 4th of July foods - hotdogs, hamburgers, potato chips and pasta salad. If you're looking to mix up the menu this year, be sure to check out health living expert Cherylanne Skolnicki at 8:15 for some easy-to-do holiday snacks that everyone will love!

Last but not least, we decided to end our holiday newscast with a bang...literally! The Steel Drum Band will be performing live at 9:45 during the FOX19 Morning Xtra! You won't want to miss it!

That wraps up your holiday headlines! Go enjoy your day off and I will talk to you Friday!
