70-year-old man takes 7,000th ride on Diamondback roller coaster

MASON, OH (FOX19) -

A Monfort Heights man took his 7,000th ride on the Diamondback roller coaster at Kings Island on Wednesday.

Gary Coleman, 70, began riding the amusement park's tallest and fastest coaster when it opened in 2009. He said he did it "just for fun," but the exhilaration turned into a legitimate passion.

Coleman has spend more than 350 hours on the ride over a four year period.

He used his Cedar Fair Platinum pass to visit Kings Island 30 time so far this season, accumulating more than 1,100 rides on Diamondback for an average of 37 rides per day, including a personal single-day high of 111 rides on June 17.
