The Louisiana House has made a fashion statement. The House rejected a bill that would have made it illegal for people to wear low-riding pants, which expose underwear and sometimes even more. There were warnings that passage of the bill could make the state a laughingstock. State Representative Derrick Shepherd sponsored the bill. He says sagging pants are a serious problem for young men trying to copy the fashion of prisoners. The big question was how police would determine what is considered proper dress and what breaks the law.
