Teen drivers learn 'Driving Skills for Life'

Teen drivers in the Tri-State are learning advanced safe-driving skills from some of the nation's top professional driving instructors this week.

The Ford Driving Skills for Life summer tour offers teen real-world experience in real cars, not simulators. The driving course provides experience to teens in the areas of speed and space management, hazard recognition, vehicle handling and avoiding distracted driving. Teens learn proper techniques to help avoid dangerous obstacles they encounter in every day driving.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 327 Ohio teens were killed in traffic crashes during 2009 and 2011; 184 of them were driving.

About 400 teens are taking part in the two-day clinic on July 9 and 10. Registration is still open for Tuesday's events. Visit www.drivingskillsforlife.com to register.
