Panties to be strung along the Purple People Bridge

The Jaymie Jamison Foundation for Hope for Gynecological Cancer Awareness will be hosting the "Second Annual Panties Across the Bridge Event" on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 9am – 6pm on the Purple People Bridge which spans the Ohio River between Downtown Cincinnati and Downtown Newport, Kentucky.

Event organizers say the purpose is to celebrate the survivors of gynecological cancer and remember the 11,130 women who died from the disease over the past year. The Jaymie Jamison Foundation uses the "Bridge Event" as a means to educate women about gynecological cancer prevention and services available to them and their families in a friendly entertaining environment.

Local radio station Q102 is the primary media sponsor for the second year and will be broadcasting live from the Purple People Bridge. Nashville recording artist, Stephanie Corbin, will be performing live and area bands including The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars will be performing throughout the day. There will also be a variety of food booths and vendors ranging from jewelry makers to specialty energy drinks, and play areas for kids including face painting and arts and crafts.

This year's "Panties Across the Bridge" will begin with the "First Annual Jaymie's Rockin' Run for Hope 5k Race" which will kick-off at 8:30am at the Devou Park Overlook in Covington, Kentucky. Runners and "cheerleaders" will wear their best ‘70's, ‘80's and ‘90's styles as they run to the sounds of everything from Grand Funk Railroad and the Rolling Stones to Motown and the Beach Boys. There is still time to register for the race.
