COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A northern Kentucky man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to beating his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor to death.

Leslie Haun, 47, received the sentence during a hearing Tuesday in Kenton Circuit Court. Prosecutors say he attacked his sponsor, Shain Pierce, last year with a baseball bat and a table leg.

The attack happened when Pierce returned to his Covington home after having a toe amputated and found Haun there drunk with his adult son.

Pierce's sister, who attended the sentencing, said her brother attended AA meetings in an effort to help others. She told Haun after he was sentenced, "I hope you die in there."
