Police: IN stage collapse wreckage stolen for scrap metal

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (FOX19) - Indiana State Police are investigating a theft on Friday dealing with the wreckage from the deadly Indiana State Fair stage collapse.

The wreckage, which has since been stored in an Indianapolis warehouse, was broken into over the weekend.

Coiled steel cables were taken, and authorities believe they were stolen for scrap metal.

The collapse, which happened last year, killed seven people and injured dozens more.

The theft of the wreckage has left many victims upset, revealing that some of the stolen metal could have been used as evidence in a lawsuit.
