LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - Two medical helicopters were called to a crash Monday morning on Interstate 71 in Warren County.
The five-vehicle crash occurred just before 10 a.m. at the 34 mile marker near the Jeremiah Morrow Bridge. Authorities say Mark King, 44, was driving a semi-tractor trailer northbound on I-71 when he struck a pickup driven by Larry Davidson, 57. The impact caused a chain reaction and the pickup rear-ended a Toyota Prius driven by Denna Hazeley, 35. The Prius was pushed into a truck driven by Bill Caroll, 48 then the truck struck a mini-van driven by Brian Baul, 33.
A passenger in the front seat of the Prius, Sharon Patterson, 68, was flown by Care-Flight to Miami Valley Hospital. A two-year-old girl was in a child safety seat in the back of the Prius and was flown by Care-Fllight to Cincinnati Children's Hospital with serious injuries. None of the other drivers of passengers suffered serious injuries.
The southbound side was temporarily closed in order for two medical helicopters to land, and the northbound side remained closed for several hours.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
