Madison Road detour delayed until later this week

OAKLEY, OH (FOX19) -

Madison Road is scheduled to be reduced to one lane between Ridge Road and Ibsen Avenue on beginning later this week.

The project was scheduled to begin during the day on Wednesday, but has been delayed until Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

That lane only will be open to westbound traffic. Eastbound traffic will detour around the construction.

Eastbound traffic will detour from Madison to Ridge Road. From Ridge, the detour will continue east on Ibsen Avenue. Ibsen, which currently is closed, will reopen between Ridge and Madison. Vehicles will be able to rejoin Madison, in either direction, at Ibsen. There will be a turn only lane from Madison (eastbound) to Ridge (southbound).

The lane closures and detour are expected to last about one month. Crews will work extended hours for seven days a week to meet this shortened deadline.

Greater Cincinnati Water Works is installing a new 48" transmission water main and replacing a 100 year old smaller water main.

The Kennedy Connector project will build a new extension of Kennedy Avenue that will connect Duck Creek Road and Madison. The new road will improve traffic flow and safety. It also will provide new opportunities for economic development. The project began this spring and is expected to take nearly two years to complete.
