Firefighters treated for heat exhaustion after boat rescue

AURORA, IN (FOX19) -

A boat was rescued on the Ohio River on Sunday night.

Authorities say a boat was disabled from a fuel leak on the river down shore from the Aurora Landing.

Dearborn County Water Rescue, Aurora Fire Department and Aurora Life Squad towed the boat to the Aurora Ferry Landing after it was determined that 15 gallons of fuel were leaked. Crews hand-pumped the fuel from the bilge bay area.

Several firefighters were treated at the scene by the Aurora Life Squad for heat exhaustion and some were overcome by fumes from the fuel.
