COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Artists are close to completing a series of eight murals on pump station along the Licking River.
The project is part of an effort of Vision 2012 and ArtWorks with lead artist Kyle Penunuri. "We had a Call to Artists," said Penunuri. "There are six artists who designed the murals and we are reproducing their work. I designed one of the murals and the apprentices designed one mural."
The artists are working create their masterpiece murals along the Licking River Greenway and Trails, but they say there are some challenges.
"The work is logistically challenging," he said. "We have separate murals in a location that we cannot use scaffolding. Also, each artist's work is completely different so in a short amount of time we have to learn how to paint like the artists and recreate their work."
The murals will be located between Holmes High School and Sixteenth Street along the trails.
