MT. ADAMS, OH (FOX19) - Lightning is to blame for an apartment fire in Mt. Adams on Wednesday night.
The fire ignited in the six-unit townhouse building located in the 300 block of Oregon Street around 5:45 p.m. Fire companies reported light smoke in the three-story building. The owner told authorities that the townhouse was struck by lightning and then filled up with smoke.
It took firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the fire. Due to the size of the townhouses and the high temperatures, two additional alarms were called to the scene.
Damage is estimated at $150,000 for one townhouse, $50,000 for another unit and $100,000 to a third unit. 68 firefighters responded to the fire.
Three families were displaced by the fire.
