After term in Canadian prison, man faces charge he killed his mother
A man has pleaded innocent to a charge that he killed his mother 18 years ago in suburban Cincinnati. Police in Norwood say Richard Lee Givens confessed 12 years ago to the strangling of 75-year-old Naomi Miller. But Hamilton County authorities had to wait until this year to prosecute the case until Givens had served a Canadian prison term for sexually molesting a girl and trying to kill her mother with rat poison. Hamilton County authorities say Miller had been dead four days when her decomposing body was found in her Norwood home in May 1986.
Yesterday, her 60-year-old son pleaded innocent to the charge of murder. If convicted as charged, Givens could be sentenced to 15 years-to-life in prison.
