COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - -
More twists and turns in the case against ex-Ben-Gal cheerleader and former teacher Sarah Jones. A motion to dismiss hearing will be held July 30th in Kenton County Court at 9:00 AM.
Prosecutors on Friday released a text message that Jones allegedly sent to a former student she's accused of having sex with. The motion stated "Even the text messages themselves are wrought with Sarah Jones' commands to the victim to 'deny everything.'"
Defense Attorney Eric Deters filed a motion on Friday demanding the court cite special prosecutor Sara Farmer with contempt for releasing the contents of the messages Deters says should be sealed.
Deters is asking the court to suppress the text messages or dismiss all charges because he fears that language could taint the jury pool and hurt his defense.
27-year old Sarah Jones is accused of having sex with a student while she was a teacher at Dixie Heights High School.
A Kenton County grand jury indicted Jones in March of first degree sexual abuse and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities. Jones has plead not guilty to both charges.
Sarah Jones mother Cheryl, was indicted for tampering with evidence. She has also plead not guilty.
