AUBURN, AL (FOX19) -

An Auburn Athletics website is reporting that former Dixie Heights High School quarterback Zeke Pike will not join the Auburn football team this season.

Auburn Undercover says Pike is not expected to be with the team when it opens preseason practice on Wednesday.

Sources tell Auburn Undercover that Pike could rejoin the team after the 2012 season. He was a candidate to be Auburn's starting quarterback this season.

Pike was an early in enrollee at Auburn, taking part in Spring practice. However, he was sent back home to Edgewood after being arrested for public intoxication in June.

Pike was considered one of the top prep quarterbacks. In his senior year at Dixie, he was 156-of-267 passing for 1,964 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also ran for 728 yards and 16 more scores.
