MONTGOMERY, OH (FOX19) -
The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) has joined forces with the United States Marshals in the search for a dangerous fugitive.
SOFAST is now searching for Shawn Wood who is wanted in Montgomery County for sex offender registration violations. Wood is a convicted sex offender with prior arrests for kidnapping, weapons offenses, assaults, trafficking in drugs, and rape.
Most recently Wood claimed to be homeless and living in the area of Wyoming Street in Dayton. Because Wood provided false information about his residence, warrants were issued charging him with violating his sex offender registration requirements. Wood is known to have relatives in the Dayton area and family members in other states. Any persons aiding this fugitive may be subject to serious criminal charges.
Wood is described as a black male, 31 years of age, 5'10", 154 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left calf that says Jerilynne's Boy.
Because of Wood's violent criminal history he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with knowledge of his current location is requested to call 911 and notify the local police. Anyone with information concerning Wood should call Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at (937) 222-STOP or 1-800-637-5735. Callers may be eligible for a reward.
