CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A former Cincinnati police officer appeared in federal court on Wednesday following an investigation and arrest involving child pornography.
Randolph Grote, 42, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography.
He also resigned from the department on Wednesday.
An investigation began by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations looked at the distribution of child porn on the Internet. During this time, agents allegedly traced access to child pornography back to Grote's address.
Grote's home was also searched by authorities on a federal warrant in October of 2011. During the search, several computers were seized, and investigators found images of children engaged in illicit sexual activity.
He was an officer with District 3 police, hired in February of 2003. Grote had no previous disciplinary actions in his police jacket.
