SPRINGDALE, OH (FOX19) - Springdale Police kicked off their 3rd annual 'Cop on Top' event on Friday.

The officers hope to raise $7,500 for the Ohio Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics Ohio.

The fundraiser entails local police chiefs and officers taking turns sitting on top of scaffolding located above area Walgreens stores.

'Cop on Top' lasts for 35 hours straight, while law enforcement also collects donations from customers.

Springdale Police will be joined by several other departments, including the University of Cincinnati, Harrison and Fairfax.

More than half a million dollars were raised for the Special Olympics last year from events like the one this weekend.

'Cop on Top' is located at the Springdale Walgreens store on Northland Boulevard, beginning Friday morning until 5 p.m. on Saturday.
