BLANCHESTER, OH (FOX19) -

A Blanchester man is behind bars after police say he raped a young girl.

The girl, who is under the age of 13, told police on Friday, Aug. 3 that she was sexually assaulted in a wooded area behind an apartment complex on North Street in Blanchester. She said the incident happened in mid-July.

Police arrested John K. Beltzhoover, 45, on Saturday, Aug. 4 on one count of rape. He was taken to the Clinton County Jail, where he told police that he was employed as a maintenance man by Fleishman Property Management, the owner of the apartment complex where he resides.

Police say Beltzhoover has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1999. He is currently on probation through the Clinton County Court of Common Pleas for a fall 2011 incident that involved corrupting another with drugs.

Police also arrested Sheena Halm, 28, for failure to report a felony crime. Police say she is a former girlfriend of Beltzhoover who knew about the alleged assault and failed to report it to police.
