(CNN) - Former President Jimmy Carter is expected to show his support for President Obama through a tapped video address at the Democratic National Convention.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner did not speak at the 2008 convention, but was in attendance.

The DNC chairman said Carter will provide unique insight into President Obama's ability to move the country forward and why Americans need his vision and leadership for a second term.

The convention will take place in Charlotte, NC in September.
