Boone County police say they've arrested panty thief
Boone County Investigators say they've charged a man they believe stole panties and bras from women's homes for the past two years. Thirty-five-year-old Gary Wright of Jamestown is charged with eight counts each of theft and burglary, all felonies. Police say Wright entered the homes of at least eight people in the community about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis and stole underwear, food, money and cleaning supplies. Sheriff's Detective Lieutenant Albert Hendrix said Wright would smell the undergarments, then throw them in a trash bin. Police say Wright was suspected in similar crimes nearly 20 years ago in his hometown of Jamestown, about 30 miles west of Indianapolis.
