Energy secretary says center to bring 140 jobs to Ohio

Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham says the creation of a new business center for the US Department of Energy will bring about 140 jobs to the Cincinnati area. Abraham and Ohio Congressman Rob Portman made the announcement today at a news conference in Cincinnati. The jobs will be created by the consolidation of the department's environmental management business support services into a single operation at a new Consolidation Business Center. Abraham says the center will serve as a clearinghouse for a wide range of activities supporting the department's national environmental cleanup mission.

The Cincinnati region was selected after a study of more than 300 metropolitan areas. The specific location has not been determined. The department hopes to have the center operating within the next nine months.
