Reds losing streak stretches to five games

Posted: Updated:

The Cincinnati Reds lost 5-3 to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in a rain-delayed game Thursday night.

The Cubs' Alfonso Soriano broke open a 3-3 tie with a two-run homer, his 20th, off Reds reliever Sean Marshall.

The Reds led at one time by 2-0 following a home run by Zack Cozart, his thirteenth of the year.  After a Cubs score, Todd Frazier restored the lead in the fourth with a Todd Frazier solo shot, his 14th.

After that, it was all Cubs, as Chicago tied the game in the 7th, and Soriano broke the tie in the 8th with his homer.  Rain returned to Wrigley Field but play continued.

The game was the first of a series in Chicago after a winless visit to Milwaukee.  Starter Mike Leake lasted into the seventh inning innings with 3 earned runs before being pulled for Jose Arredondo.
