BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Over 700 youth athletes, ages 7 to 19, will push their physical limits and compete in the 2012 USA Triathlon Youth Junior National Championships at the Butler County Visitors Bureau.
Over the course of the two-day event the athletes will compete in challenging stints of running, biking, and swimming.
Heats on Saturday will feature the National Championships of the Youth Elite, ages 13 to 15, and Junior Elite, ages 16 to 19. Sunday heats will feature the Youth National Championships, featuring athletes ages 7 to 15 and the mixed team with ages 13 to 19.
"We are excited to be a part of this prestigious youth sporting event," said Mark Hecquet, executive director of the BCVB. "To have a sporting event of this magnitude come to our county will be a great boost for the local economy."
The event is expected to draw over 1,600 visitors and bring in about $500,000 to Butler County.
