New study ranks local states high on the list

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE)- Indiana and Kentucky are ranked in the top 10 in a new national study.

The Centers for Disease Control recently ranked each state according to obesity levels in each state.

Indiana is ranked at #8 on the list while Kentucky is ranked at #10.

According to their study, 30.8 percent of Hoosiers are considered obese statewide.

The study also found that more than one third of adults in America are considered obese.

Recently the USDA changed their guidelines to help reduce childhood obesity by changing the eating habits of children beginning at an early age.

The guidelines are meant to help schools provide more nutritious meals to students.
