Horseshoe Casino looking to hire 750 dealers

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Horseshoe Casino will be accepting online applications to fill 750 dealer positions including poker dealers, table game dealers, poker supervisors, table game supervisors and select management roles.

Horseshoe's Vice President of Human Resources, Lisa Rexroat-Steele, says thousands are expected to apply. "Our sister property in Cleveland had a mass of applications in the first bit of the application window being open and if that's any indication of what we get, we expect that we'll get around 15-thousand applications."

Rexroat-Steele says the candidates who make it through the screening process will be invited to a hiring event in late September and training starts in November. "It will be a 12 week training program for our table games operators and supervisors and it will be free of charge to the public. I think its a big surprise to folks that they do not have to pay to go out and do these types of positions. We will train for the skills needed so no experience necessary. We're looking for people with great attitudes, with upbeat and positive personalities that can come in and help entertain our guests."

In addition to table games openings, non-gaming and other casino positions will be posted throughout the fall and early winter to round out the casino's 1,700 member team prior to the planned spring 2013 opening.

The training is four hours a day with flexible training schedules to accommodate candidates who work or have other obligations.

Horseshoe Cincinnati has committed to hire more than 90% of its workforce from the Greater Cincinnati area.

Table games candidates must fit the following requirements:

  • are 21 years of age
  • have earned a high school diploma or GED
  • are able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • are willing to attend several weeks of free training on their own time prior to the casino opening
  • will to submit to Horseshoe's drug test and background check
  • fulfill requirements to be licensed by the Ohio Casino Control Commission

After applying, table games applicants who demonstrate and eagerness to learn and embrace Horseshoe's commitment to providing superior customer service will be invited to enroll in Horseshoe Cincinnati's Table Games Service Academy later this fall.

Online applications will be accepted from August 22 through September 26.
