WETHERSFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

A woman who was reported missing overnight was found Wednesday morning after spending the night in her crashed car off I-91.

A silver alert was issued for 73-year-old Anna DeLeo after she was reported missing by family members around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Police said DeLeo was last seen by her daughter leaving Ad's Pizzeria in Windsor Locks and getting on to I-91.

DeLeo never returned to her Wethersfield home.

On Wednesday morning, Connecticut State Police said they responded to reports of a woman walking along Interstate 91 south in Wethersfield.

When they arrived in the area, state police said they found DeLeo standing at the guardrail.

Connecticut State Police said DeLeo told them she was getting on the on-ramp to I-91 when she started to feel ill. At that time, DeLeo said, she lost control of her vehicle and went down an embankment near the guardrails.

State police said the car traveled nearly 300 feet before slamming into a tree, which stopped the car.

The brush from the trees after the crash covered the car, which is why no one noticed that it went off the road, state police said.

DeLeo spent the night in her car, and when she woke up she climbed out, walked up the embankment and that's when she was noticed.

DeLeo was brought to Hartford Hospital as a precaution.
