KSP promotes 56 officers during special ceremony

FRANKFORT, KY (FOX19) - The Kentucky State Police announced the promotion of several officers throughout the state on Friday.

KSP say 56 officers were promoted at a special ceremony at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Two KSP majors, 10 captains, 11 lieutenants and 23 sergeants were commissioned. Three Commercial Vehicle Enforcement captains, three lieutenants and four sergeants were also promoted during the ceremony.

Among the promoted officers are 21-year KSP veteran Capt. Merrell Harrison and 22-year CVE veteran Lt. Darrin Patterson.

Capt. Harrison was promoted to major and transferred from command of Post 14 in Ashland to command of the East Troop at KSP headquarters in Frankfort. Lt. Patterson was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to Region 6 in Pikeville.
