FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - A teenager who killed a fellow resident at a Butler County group home was sentenced in adult court on Monday, but his final sentence will be determined in juvenile court.

Lance Tiernan was sentenced to 54 days in jail for the death of Anthony Parker, 16, at One Way Farm.

"I wish he would have gotten a little more time mainly so that he would have the time to contemplate what he did," said Anita Smith, Anthony Parker's adopted grandmother.  "I don't think he can begin to do that in the short amount of time he was given."

The case will be sent back to juvenile court, where a juvenile court judge will determine whether or not to change the sentence or accept it as is. Tiernan is 17-years-old but was tried as an adult.

Tiernan has been behind bars since his arrest last December. He faced a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Tiernan was convicted in July of one count of involuntary manslaughter. Investigators say Tiernan beat Parker to death after an argument over a flashlight. Parker died a few days after the attack from serious head injuries.
