OXFORD, OH (FOX19) -

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity house and the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity house sit less than 100 feet apart. Police say at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday some member from both houses started a fireworks firing range.

"The first officer that arrived on scene observed fireworks being shot from the third story at the other one," said Sgt. Jon Varley with the Oxford Police Dept.

Officials say the fireworks being used weren't just small bottle rockets.

"We found shells that were probably an inch and a half to two inches that were wrapped in plain brown paper like a commercial grade firework is," said Oxford Fire Chief John Deterage.

Authorities say amazingly no major fire ignited by there is damage to both homes. While executing a search warrant at both homes, police found a large amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and other types of drugs.

"We have had some of it that has field tested positive for cocaine, but obviously it has to be verified by a lab before we can proceed with that," said Varley.

"If the charges are very serious it could include suspension," said Miami University Spokesperson Claire Wagner. "If the groups are involved and have also been found to violate the code of conduct, they may face being kicked off campus in essence."

Charges were filed against some members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon on Friday. William Acker, 21, Noah Kleiman, 20, and Benjamin Cohen, 20, are charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charles Hodge, 21, is charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of fireworks. Nicholas Jurden, 20, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs (M-4, marijuana), possession of drugs (F-5, cocaine) and trafficking in drugs. Patrick Baudhuin, 21, is charged with possession of fireworks. Willison Evans, 19, of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity is charged with possession of drugs (F-3, hashish).
