Services held for Judge Rachel Hutzel

WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Judge Rachel A. Hutzel passed away on Saturday morning. She was 56.

Judge Hutzel was the first female to hold the position Warren County Prosecutor when she accepted the position in 2003.  Judge Hutzel then joined the Twelfth District Court of Appeals in 2011, again the first woman to hold the position since it was created in 1983.

Hutzel was known for her community outreach including educational programs for children, teens, and the elderly.

She had been battling cancer.

Judge Hutzel became well known after serving as prosecutor in the Ryan Widmer trial.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Warren County Administration Building, 406 Justice Drive, Lebanon. Services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church on DeSales Avenue in Lebanon.
