CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati councilman Wendell Young has announced the expansion of the Cincinnati Task Force on Healthy Living.
A report earlier this year by the Institute of Medicine showed that two thirds of adults and almost one third of children are obese are overweight.
"In approaching an issue as complex and significant as the lives and health of our young children, I find it imperative that we bring together all those with the power to make a difference," said Young.
The task force will now include representation from Cincinnati Public Schools, the City of Cincinnati Parks Department and Recreation Department and the food and beverage industry.
The objective is to expand and identify ways to speed progress in obesity prevention through food access and education, schools, marketing and advertising food messaging and physical activity.
