Activist runs car on free waste cooking oil

How would you like to fill up for free? That's what Etta Kantor does. She runs her Volkswagen Jetta on waste vegetable oil from a Chinese restaurant. Kantor had her car adapted to run on regular diesel or vegetable oil by a company called Greasecar. The conversion kit sells for about 800 dollars, installation not included. Kantor says her Volkswagen runs the same but smells better. Instead of diesel exhaust, Kantor says her car now smells like french fries or popcorn. Kantor says at first, her husband thought she was crazy but is now a big fan of her veggie powered VW. The Weston, Connecticut, activist and volunteer says she's saving money -- and helping the environment by running her car on vegetable oil most of the time.
