West Chester Police now offering 'vacation home checks'

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - The West Chester Police Department offers a free "vacation home check" service to give residents some peace of mind while they are out of town.

Residents just need to let West Chester Police know when they're going to be out of town and police will make a point of checking on their property.

"If we know a resident is out of town, we look at their property differently while on our regular patrols," said Sgt. Matt Tombragel of the West Chester Police Community Affairs Division. "Officers will address stacked up newspapers on the driveway, and they will make special note of windows or doors broken or left ajar."

The Police Department's home check service is not a substitute for making trusted neighbors aware of an absence, it is just an added level of security.

Residents planning a trip, may complete the Unoccupied Home Checks form found on ActionLine at www.WestChesterOH.org.
