Isaac Back Over Open Water For A Few Hours

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

As of 11:00p.m. the center of Hurricane Isaac was located near 29.1N 89.9W, moving toward the NW at 8 mph. The center of Isaac has now moved back over water, just west of the Mississippi Delta and East of Grand Isle, LA, or 65 miles S of New Orleans, LA and 60 miles SE of Houma, LA. The highest storm surge so far is at Shell Beach, Louisiana. It was reported to be at 11Ft. from their tide gauge.

Maximum sustained winds are still near 80mph, which places Isaac at a minimal Category 1 Hurricane. 

The tornado threat will continue in areas to the RIGHT or NE of the storm as it moves farther northwest. Storm Surge will continue to be a major impact as he moves inland as well. 6-12FT along the coast of Mississippi and Southeastern LA, 4-8ft on the Alabama coastline, 3-6ft for South-Central LA, 3-6ft along the Florida Panhandle and less as you go eastward. 

Tropical Storm conditions are occurring over most of SE Louisiana, including the city of New Orleans and the will continue to spread inland as Isaac moves farther northwestward. Rainfall totals in the 7"-14" range are possible with a maximum near 20"

Isaac's impacts on East Texas are expected to be breezy conditions on Wednesday and better chances for some much needed rainfall on Thursday and Friday morning.
