CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The American Red Cross, Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region, sent 27 volunteers and two Red Cross Response Vehicles to Montgomery, AL, Hattiesburg, MS, Baton Rouge, LA and Orlando, Florida in preparation of Isaac.
"Deployment of volunteers has currently stopped as we await to see where the storm finally lands," said Fran O'Shaughnessy, Director of Emergency Services for the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region. "As the storm prepares to make landfall, our local Red Cross stands ready to help as long as there is a need."
Volunteers are ready to help with the distribution of food, sheltering and mobile feeding. They are also prepared to help with recovery and clean up supplies.
The Red Cross has prepositioned 290,000 ready-to-eat meals, activated nearly 200 emergency response vehicles and mobilized 2,400 disaster workers.
