SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -
According to our media partners Masslive and The Republican, the former vice principal of Putnam High School in Springfield is suing the school department, saying he was forced out after blowing the whistle on improper freshman promotions.
Shawn Arcidiacono says he was forced to resign after reporting 108 ninth graders were being promoted improperly in 2010.
Arcidiacono resigned in 2011 after an audit found employees spent student activity money for personal use.
He says he was accused by principal Gilbert Traverso of misspending school funds and harassing a school employee.
Arcidiacono says those accusations were false and were in retaliation to flagging the promotions.
His lawsuit was filed in Hampden superior court.
The school department had no comment.
