HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - After months of investigating a felon who was selling heroin and prescription medication in Hamilton, authorities have made an arrest.
Authorities say Earl Cavin, Jr. was arrested for multiple felonies including having weapons under disability.
The Hamilton Police Department's Vice Section conducted two simultaneous search warrants on Thursday morning, one in the 600 block of Vine St. and one in the 1900 block of Grand Boulevard.
Detectives found a handgun, 14 doses of heroin, illegal prescription medication, scales, packaging material and more than $1,000 in cash at the Grand Boulevard residence. The home is within 1,000 feet of Crawford Woods Elementary School, which enhances the degree of the offense.
Nine grams of heroin, 70 doses of heroin in gel caps, illegal prescription medication, scales and other drug paraphernalia were found by detectives at the Vine St. residence. Authorities also arrested a person at the home who was waiting to be sold heroin.
Cavin has prior convictions for attempted murder and drug trafficking. He is currently on parole with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
