CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A Cincinnati native spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.
Doug Stern is a 15-year veteran of the Cincinnati Fire Department who took center stage at the DNC. "Somewhere along the way, being a public employee, someone who works for my community, made a scapegoat to the GOP. Vice-President Biden and President Obama still believe public service is an honorable calling," Stern said during his speech.
Stern said he was a Republican for a majority of his voting life, but has switched after he says the party left him behind.
"The people I work with, the firemen I hang out with, we have a simple statement -- we support those who support us," said Stern.
